The Issue of Proportionate Response

Contrary to what many claim, Israel has engaged in the most restrained response imaginable to the constant attacks on her citizens.

Israel has done everything possible to minimize civilian casualties, understanding that many in Gaza are held hostage by Hamas as well.

Israel has made announcements of imminent attacks and warned civilians to get out of the way, assuming that Hamas allows them to.

How would other countries respond to attacks on their civilian population? We don't have to look too far back in history for an answer.

In response to the Nazi bombing of Britain in World War II, Britain and the Allies firebombed German cities, reducing many of them to rubble.

In response to the 9/11 attacks, the United States unleashed the "shock and awe" attacks on Iraq.

Here's an ironic look at what a proportionate response would really look like.
